This group is welcome to all children, beginning with first grade. Singing is a
wonderful way to praise God and actively participate in worship. The choir
sings once a month, plus Easter and Christmas Eve (and the annual talent show).
We meet in the choir room between services--from 10:30-11am each Sunday. A
child may join at any time; now is a great time.
The Lord's Accord sings for both services. At 9:30, just after the first hymn,
and at 11:15, the children open the service.
Parent responsibility is easy. On the days that the Lord's Accord sings, the
children need to be in the Sanctuary at 9:15 to pray with the adult choir and
rehearse. Then, in the choir room, children go over any forgotten parts of our
anthem, put on stoles, and line up.
Our tradition is one chocolate Kiss or Hug, for those on time for each
rehearsal.
The anthems the children memorize have wonderful words to add to their growing
knowledge of faith, with music chosen to match the church year. Some of our
quietest choir members have joyfully sung solos inserted into the anthems. This
is a rewarding ministry for the whole congregation--to have children
participate eagerly in worship.
